- WHAT IS CANINE REHAB?
Canine rehabilitation combines therapeutic exercises, hands-on techniques, and the use of modalities such as laser, electrical stimulation, and PEMF to assist your dog in pain reduction, tissue healing, strengthening, and improving overall functional mobility.
- IS MY DOG A CANDIDATE FOR CANINE REHABILITATION?
Whether your dog is suffering from an injury from an athletic event, arthritis, unspecified lameness, recovering from surgery or a neurological condition, or needs to lose weight, canine rehabilitation can be a great benefit.
- WILL I RECEIVE INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO CONTINUE TREATMENT AT HOME?
TVCR feels very strongly about teaching you a home exercise program. The home program is individualized to your dog’s needs, and your circumstances. At TVCR, we believe that the key to success for returning your dog to their highest functional potential is a combination of therapy in the clinic, and at home.
- HOW LONG DOES A TYPICAL THERAPY SESSION LAST?
Evaluation and first treatment typically lasts 75-90 minutes. Treatments typically last 45-60 minutes.
- WHAT DO I NEED TO DO HAVE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
We ask that you have high-value goodies that are small in size or can be ripped into small pieces. We do have options for use during each session, however, if your dog has an allergy or you have a specific request, please let us know ahead of time, or provide your pup’s favorite snacks.
- WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT?
TVCR must receive a referral for rehabilitation from your veterinarian in order to evaluate and treat your dog. Your veterinarian can write a referral to bring on your first visit, or you can ask them to email the referral to [email protected]. They should provide your dog’s medical history and/or any precautions or medical concerns they may have regarding participation in rehabilitation. TVCR is also happy to contact your veterinarian for the referral information prior to initial evaluation.
- AM I ALLOWED TO BE WITH MY DOG DURING TREATMENT?
YES! We encourage you to stay, especially during the initial evaluation and first treatment. You are an integral part of your pet’s success. We will discuss your dog’s medical and functional history with you throughout the evaluation. We will also provide hands-on instruction so that you will feel comfortable with the home program we establish for you and your dog.
- CAN YOU GUARANTEE MY DOG WILL IMPROVE?
The goals of physical rehabilitation are dependent on the goals of the owner, the condition being treated, and the initial assessment of the animal. We strive to return all pets back to the best possible function and quality of life. Some patients may return to agility competitions, while others may be happy being able to walk around the block again. Expectations and possible outcomes will be discussed with you at the initial evaluation appointment.
- IS MY PET TOO OLD TO RECEIVE TREATMENT?
Never! We see many senior pets and specialize in senior care. Senior canines can benefit greatly from increasing their mobility in a safe environment. With any pet, we begin a program slowly and tailor it to their current ability level with the goal of making them more mobile, and comfortable at home.
- WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DOES TVCR ACCEPT?
We are happy to accept cash, Venmo, or credit card payments. Please note, listed prices are the cash/check price. A processing fee will be added for all credit card payments.
- DO YOU TREAT CATS TOO?
Yes! We will need a referral from your veterinarian.
- WHAT IS TVCR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We request at least a 24 hour cancellation notice if you are unable to attend your pet’s scheduled appointment time. This advance notice will allow another patient access to that appointment time. If an appointment is cancelled in less than 24 hours or if you no-show, you will be charged a $25 fee for the missed appointment. If you need to cancel your appointment please call and leave a detailed voice message or text us at (208) ???-????.
